Warm winter, Shanghai Changning District, the Golden City Road is when the gingko dyed yellow, green and yellow leaves scattered on the pedestrian street ground paving tiles, with the stores on both sides, the appropriate spatial scale, the sense of the atmosphere of leisurely wandering came to the surface.
At the intersection of the pedestrian street, there stands a small square house with floor-to-ceiling glass doors to welcome passers-by, and the warm yellow frame blends with the overall vision of Golden City Road. It is the "Rong-Gubei Station".Nowadays, every double holiday, inside and outside the small house, all kinds of activities attract the eyes. There are charity sales organized by mothers in the community, and there are parent-child flea markets held by community merchants.
It also welcomes a group of neighbors, where some share their knowledge of traditional architecture, some organize children's painting, some plan robotics experience activities, etc. Last year alone, the station has held more than 80 events.
Few residents and passers-by realize that it is actually a container building. Today's container building, is not the past stereotype of a simple metal box, it can also be rich in design.
The original intention of the design is to have an open platform to present the charm of the neighborhood and promote the common governance of the neighborhood, a space that can be shared by the community merchants, and a vibrant stage where everyone can create.
Here you can hear the languages of various countries, is the gathering of Chinese and foreign friends living place; here no traffic, no horn, only the cozy of slow life; here you can see Shanghai's extremely prestigious ginkgo scenery, is also the pride of the residents doorstep.
So the plan took the local material and fused the warm yellow elements of ginkgo leaves with the container huts. The whole side facing the intersection is almost all floor-to-ceiling glass doors. The two sides of the container can be opened completely, and the hut can be turned into a three-sided open box, suitable for various interactive activities.
The post is designed with the concept of participatory design to leave behind the story of the neighborhood in bits and pieces. The main wall material uses 1.6mm weathering steel; the walls and alloy doors and windows are all prefabricated in the factory and then lifted to the site before splicing the doors and windows; the solar panel on top solves the light weight electricity demand for lighting and air conditioning.
The Gubei Station took only 1 month in total from the time the concept was proposed, the design plan was approved, the factory production to the full implementation. In fact, more energy was spent on communication, polishing the plan and going through the process, the actual factory production time was just a few days, and the construction time on the ground was just a few hours.
Such a small post unit, especially suitable for the use of container buildings. The cost is manageable, the construction cycle is short, and the steel structure is corrosion-resistant and resistant to category 8 earthquakes and category 10 hurricanes. It does most of its production almost in the factory, is not affected by the environmental climate, and does not disturb people on site, so residents of nearby communities do not have to be bothered by construction noise.
It also has a key advantage: no need to occupy the building land index, the approval process is short, without digging down to three feet, will not damage the original ground pavement of the pedestrian street.
Therefore, the container building is particularly suitable for some harsh environmental conditions, such as sand, mud, mudflats, or do not want to second excavation of the delicate ground.
The characteristics of the Gubei Station's use in the past two years: street frontage, open, beautiful, eye-catching, and very interactive, like an art installation. The use of a container building is just right than building a new traditional stagecoach house.
