Application types of marine steel

In order to meet the different needs of various parts of the hull structure, there are mainly the following types of marine steel in practical applications:

1 Steel plate

Steel plates are the main component of the hull structure, accounting for about 60% to 65%. For example, ship shell plates, deck plates, and subdivision partitions, steel plates with a thickness of 4mm or less are generally referred to as thin plates, and steel plates with a thickness of 4mm or more are referred to as thick plates. The size range of marine steel plate is generally: 6-40mm thick, 1200b3 000rDATI wide, 6000, 14000mm long.

2 section steel

The proportion of standard steel sections in the hull structure is only second to steel plates, accounting for about 35% to 40%. They are mainly used as hull frames. According to its cross-sectional shape, it can be divided into flat steel, spherical flat steel, angle steel, I-beam, T-beam, and channel steel.

3 Cast steel and forged steel

Cast steel is often used for the head and tail columns, anchors, fairleads, cable piles, and stern tubes of ships, while forged steel is often used for the rudder stock, shaft, and other simple shaped components of ships.
