Electro galvanized sheet
Similar to the production process of hot-dip galvanized steel plate, the production process of electro galvanized steel plate also adopts continuous electroplating method, which is divided into two steps: pretreatment (cleaning section) and post plating treatment. The quality of galvanized sheet depends largely on the washing quality before electroplating. The main purpose of post-treatment of electro galvanizing is to improve the surface painting performance and corrosion resistance of galvanized sheet, so as to prolong the service life of galvanized sheet. Post plating treatment mainly includes phosphating treatment and chromizing treatment. In addition to the defects of the original plate, improper operation of any process will cause quality problems. General surface defects include:
(1) Pinhole
It refers to the fine holes on the coating surface that are similar to the needle tip. Although their density and distribution are different, they are generally similar in size and shape when viewed under a magnifying glass. Pinholes are usually defects caused by hydrogen bubble adsorption during electroplating. In the electroplating reaction, a large number of bubbles are generated. If these bubbles are not eliminated in time, they will stay between the strip steel surface and the anode. The anode and strip steel surface are covered by a gas layer, which affects the conductivity, resulting in the failure of local plating on the strip steel surface.
(2) Pitting
It refers to the irregular concave hole on the surface of the coating, which is characterized by different shape, size and depth. Pitting is generally caused by substrate defects or foreign matter adhesion during electroplating.
(3) Burr (or rough)
It refers to the foreign matter with protruding and pricking feeling on the surface of the coating. It is usually characterized by being obvious in the electroplating upward or high current density area. The zinc layer thickness of electro galvanizing is controlled by controlling the current density and strip speed, that is, increasing the current density and reducing the strip speed can improve the zinc layer thickness. However, there is a certain limit. When the strip speed is very low and the current density is high, the coating surface will become rough, which will affect the coating quality.
(4) Bubbling
It refers to the raised vesicles on the surface of the coating, which are characterized by different sizes and densities and are separated from the substrate. Generally, it is obvious in zinc alloy and aluminum alloy coatings.
(5) Peeling (or falling off)
It refers to the cracked or non cracked defects in which the coating and substrate peel off. It is usually caused by poor pretreatment before plating.
(6) Speckles
It refers to defects such as color spots and dark spots on the surface of the coating. It is caused by poor deposition of metal ions in the plating process, adhesion of foreign matters or unclean cleaning of passivation solution after passivation treatment.
(7) Yin Yang side
It refers to the defects of uneven brightness or uneven color on the surface of the coating, which shows a certain regularity in similar products in most cases.
(8) Local electroless coating
There are defects of missing plating, exposed iron spots or spots with different areas and shapes on the coating surface (except for process regulations).

In addition to the above surface defects, the coating surface sometimes has defects such as damage, scratch, white rust, roll mark, pit, crease, black spot, unclean salt trace, water trace, erasable or brown, brown passivation film, dendritic, sponge and stripe coatings.
